Dr. MLK 50 Yr Speech Anniversary 2On Monday, January 19th, we will celebrate the Birthday of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. King, the foremost leader of the American Civil Rights Movement, was born eighty-six years ago on January 15, 1929. The Civil Rights Movement has struggled and continues to struggle for equal rights for all people, and has a special strength and urgency in the African-American community.

In honor of Dr. King, the University of Michigan hosts a number of events on campus to celebrate and commemorate the life and legacy of one of our nations’ great leaders.
